3 Tips for Better Singing
April 18, 2025
Hi, I’m Abram from 30 Day Singer, and today I’m sharing three simple yet powerful singing practices that can really boost your vocal skills.
First up is adding *vocal vibrato* (VBR) to your singing. It might seem like a small thing, but vibrato adds a rich, vibrant tone to your voice that makes your singing sound way more polished and expressive. Try singing a simple phrase like “going home” without vibrato—then add it back in. You’ll hear and feel the difference instantly. Plus, it just feels better and more relaxed when you sing that way. Keep playing around with it, and soon it'll feel natural in your voice.
Next, let’s talk about **register blending**. This is a must if you want to hit high notes smoothly without your voice cracking or getting tired. We practiced with a 1-3-5-8-5-3-1 scale using soft vowels, keeping everything relaxed—your head, neck, and jaw. It’s all about learning to glide through your vocal range without tension. You can even rest your hand on your chest or neck to stay aware of tension as you move between chest and head voice.
Lastly, *sweeping patterns* are one of my go-to exercises for building range and flexibility. These patterns help you stretch your voice through a wide range without locking up or forcing it. We used a simple “zah” sound and gradually sped it up. Try not to sing too loud, and feel free to add that vibrato again for extra tone and ease.
Add these three practices into your regular singing warm-ups, and you’ll start seeing real improvement fast. For step-by-step lessons and even more singing tips, head over to 30daysinger.com. There’s a full library of lessons to help you become a better singer, no matter your starting point.
