Description:

Falsetto is really just another old term for head voice, but it now has new connotations that’s more connected to a particular style and tone quality. It is created by singing breathy or under supported head voice that often drops down seamlessly into a breathy chest voice sound. Remember that this is just one way of mixing our registers and it has some limitations.

The best way to start, is to find an appropriate balance of breathiness and tone. The danger in this style is often singing under pitch, or just not having enough tonal substance to make the melody clear.  For these next exercises we are going to sing in a low head voice so start and play around with gentle mixing.

Exercises for day 13:
  • Modified breathing exercise (Ha breathiness to tone)
  • Huh (5 ,1 )
  • Hey (3, 2, 1 wide vowel using the h sound)
  • Huhyehuh ( 1, 4,1) in mixed range
