Description:

Welcome to week 3: training your ears! Of course, we’re training more than our ears; we’re also training our voices to sing in tune, and our brains to recognize familiar patterns. This week is all about scales, harmonization, and analyzing melodies so you can learn them quickly and confidently, and better know when you’re “off key”.

The vast majority of popular music is built on the major scale. So just by doing vocal exercises using the major scale, you’re training your ear to recognize those patterns and sing them in tune.

Exercises for day 16:
  • Major scale, ascending & descending
  • Major scale bungee, ascending & descending

Challenge: get your starting pitch from a virtual keyboard, sing major scale, and check in periodically.

Your homework is to start with the scale and bungee exercise, and then try the challenge.
