Description:

Welcome to Part 1: Staccato Exercises! Staccato involves singing short, detached notes, which is the opposite of smooth, connected legato singing. Correct staccato technique helps activate and condition your vocal support muscles, enhancing both accuracy and agility.

Exercises:
  1. Diatonic Staccato Exercise (Zayah):
    • Practice the first 5 notes of the diatonic scale with added back-and-forth movement.
    • Example: 1232, 1232, 123454321
  2. Staccato Arpeggio Exercise (Hah):
    • Increase difficulty with arpeggios on a single chord, adding repetition for muscle conditioning.
    • Example: 35853853
  3. Create Your Own:
    • Invent an agility exercise using staccato principles.
    • Adapt any exercise by singing short, detached notes and gradually increasing speed while maintaining accuracy and lower abdominal connection.

See you in Part 2!
