Description:

Welcome to your warmup. Lets jump in with some exercises!
Exercise 1: Breath (hiss to hum, hiss & pulse)
Engage your abdominals on a hiss closing to a hum, followed by a hiss & “hee” pulse.  hiss x 4, hee x 4, sustain for 7 on the 5th. If counting helps you, we’re counting to 4 for the hiss and 7 for the hum; then, 4 hisses, 4 short hee’s, and one long hee for 7 counts.

Exercise 2: 15181 slide

Choose your favorite semi-closed exercise or narrow vowel for this next pattern. Narrow vowels include OO and EE, and semi-closed exercises include lip trills, straw singing, NG, hum, VV - you choose!

Exercise: Staccato quarters & eighths
And last exercise for clarity and accuracy: staccato articulation on the same pitch. Staccato means short and detached. We’ll sing quarter notes, then eighth notes. An eighth note is half the duration of a quarter note; you can count 1234 1&2&3&4& in your head if that helps!

See you in part 1 for narrow range patterns!
