    Hi! Thanks for your videos.

Im really trying to master vibrato as I sing musical theatre but I think I do vibrato in an unnatural way, by forcing air out . Ive been doing this for a while so it's hard for me to stop doing it, I have to make a conscious effort to, and I can't seem to manage to let natural vibrato come out. I've been singing for years and believe I do have space, good breath support etc but I still can't seem to produce a natural vibrato ... any tips ?! (Ps I've listened to your YouTube live tutorial and still struggling!)

Hi, Adina! Have you tried letting your vibrato ring on on something closed like a hum, NN or NG? Or perhaps a very closed vowel like an OO or EE? Those configurations should make it easier to sing without pushing air - especially the hum, NN or NG since those are partially closed.

Let me know if you try it!

    Thanks !

Ive been trying it and you're right- I'm not pushing air out when I hum but I'm not producing vibrato! I think my other problem (Besides from pushing air out ), is that I also create vibrato by consciously controlling the 'going up and down' (high low high low high low) of the tune and the speed instead of letting vibrato do the work to produce that shakey sound.
So am still trying to work out where I'm going wrong and how to rectify it. Is vibrato something that everyone should be able to achieve or is it something that some people will just never be able to do? Cos I'm thinking I'm the latter !!

When I say 'going up and down' -I mean pitch!! (The word escaped me!)

I understand! That's probably the issue - trying the rapidly control the pitch. Vibrato is something we can "release" or "let go", but it's not created by singing two pitches quickly in succession. It does happen naturally and will appear over time - and I haven't yet encountered a singer who didn't (eventually) develop vibrato!
