Opening jaw and narrowing sideways

     Hi Camille, 

    Thank you for your lesson today! I was thinking about what you mentioned in the Q&A about navigating the passaggio and that in your case you open the jaw and close sideways. When saying closing sideways did you mean lowering your soft palate or perhaps more cord closure?

    Hi, Camila! Thanks for joining. What I meant was narrowing my mouth position (for example, feel the difference between a wide "HEY" and a more narrow "HO" - you should feel your mouth move from a wider "smile" position to a narrow but tall position). That's what works for me, and it works for many singers. But working over the passaggio is tricky, so I encourage you to experiment and use the vowel modification that works best for you.
