    Hi,

Ive been singing all my life.. Ive sang on stage, and at parties, karaoke, ETC. I know i can sing.. I've considered taking my ability to the next level, but my range is not big enough...And this has always stopped me. Honestly, it drives me nuts...and this is the first time im adressing the issue proffesionally!

75% of songs i love and try to sing, i do fine, then, at the point of the bridge or hook {HIGHER PARTS} i strain and/or my voice breaks and my neck contractsns in a mirror,0r  on video i can actually see the bones and muscles in my neck  when im singing a higher part. Is this apart of the problem?.. ...And for example? when i know the high part is coming, my mind starts thinking of ways to get around it or going into falsesetto...Dont know if its a phsycological problem now or what! I have heard of people expanding there vocal range through excercises and lessons...Thats why i joined up, also to sharpen up in other areas...Can this program help me with this problem, or is it just a genetic thing i have to live with? And is there any advice you can give to me to improve? i struggle with some notes that most people who cant sing hit! IM committed to working hard on it...Is there a sollution?

    Hi, John!

You're not alone in the struggle. My advice is to work on your head voice (falsetto) so that you can build a healthy mixed coordination. Mixed voice is when you sing with a balance of chest function (the muscles that bring your vocal folds together) and head/falsetto function (the muscles that stretch your vocal folds and thin them out). The typical female voice is 1/3 chest register and 2/3 head register, while the typical male voice is 2/3 chest and 1/3 head. No singer has an endless chest voice! So in order to reach your upper register, you'll need to use (and train) your head voice! I encourage you to stick with it, even if it sounds weak, breathy, or unstable at the moment. The best thing you can do is exercise your voice daily (using head voice when you need to) and learn to produce those higher pitches in a relaxed way. I think you'll find what you need on the site, but feel free to book a live lesson if you'd like live personalized feedback!
