    Hi Camille,

I need help understanding the 1.5 octave (Long Line Agility pattern): 1-3-5-8-3-5-4-2-7-5-4-2-1 as per the day 13 beginners course. It is all ascending and descending (which is how I hear it), but the numbers and scale are confusing. Especially (3-5) and (4-2) as highlighted in bold, 1-3-5-8-3-5-4-2-7-5-4-2-1. I couldnt get my head around the descending order. Do we follow the scale or the sound?

    Appreciate your quick response.

    Thanks!

    Max

Follow the sound! Because "1" and "8" represent the same pitch letter name (for example, if 1 is C3, then 8 is C4), you can think of "8" as restarting the scale (one octave higher). So, in the second octave, 3 & 5 are technically 10 and 12; 2 & 4 are technically 9 and 10. But it can easily get out of hand if we don't start over at 1.

I hope that's helpful and not too confusing. If the scale degrees help, use them! But definitely follow the sound regardless, because that's correct 👍
