Breathy Tone

    Hi Camille,

I have used the quarentine time to go through the 30 day beginner lessons and I have gone on to experiment with some of the other videos. I have found a great improvement in my overall tone and volume as well as pitch.  However, I still find myself to have a more breathy tone than I would like. I remember you referencing that in some of the videos although I don't remember which ones.  Do you know which exercises in particular are helpful for overcoming the breathy tone?

    Thanks,

    Tara

So glad you're seeing improvement, Tara!

Check out day 10 (cord compression) and day 15 (FAQ and troubleshooting).

I'd also suggest you spend time vocalizing on SOVT's like lip trills, singing through a straw, and using an MM, NN, or NG. All of those configurations help line up your vocal folds properly, which is crucial to avoiding a breathy tone (ie: insufficient cord closure and air "leaking").
